140 Classroom Notes September 12, 2014
Thank you for sharing your child with us! We are all having a great time at school. We are continuing to work on learning daily classroom rituals and routines.
We have started to send home homework on Thursdays. The homework is to be done with the support of an adult. Homework is due on the following Monday.
Please provide opportunities to practice some of the skills we are working on at school: blowing noses, putting jackets on and zipping or buttoning them, and tying shoes, recognizing our names and recognizing/naming at least the first letter of their names (I know several children know all the letters in their names. They can start practicing on their last names!) and finally, start practicing correctly holding/ ”pinching” a marker or crayon when drawing and writing.
We wanted to let you know that Sabin’s “Fresh Fruit Basket Program” will only provide fresh fruit/vegetables Tuesday-Friday. This will allow the program to continue throughout the school year. This is for the afternoon class only since the morning class has breakfast in the classroom.
Since the weather is changing, your child needs to have appropriate clothing with them everyday. We go out to recess EVERY DAY, unless there is lightning or it is below 22* (so, yes, we go out when it is snowing, when it is drizzling rain and even when it’s pouring rain! (briefly!!)
If you haven’t made and sent in the colored rice or pasta, please do! We will use them in our sensory table and for art projects. (Neither the rice or pasta is to be cooked!) )
Special points of interest: ·
* Please have your child use the restroom before coming to school. (This helps us have a longer learning time in class!)
· There will be NO ECE ONLY on Monday, September 22, 2014. This is a teacher training day.
· All student health forms (physical/general check-up) are due by Oct. 6. If we do not have them on file by that date (or an appointment scheduled), your child may NOT attend ECE.
· Starting in October, every Friday families are invited in to read with their child for the first 15 mins. of class.
· If your child is absent from school, please call the attendance line, (720) 424-4595.
· Feel free to email me for any reason at [email protected] (please put your child’s name in the subject line!)
