Dear Parents :
In class, we’ve been reading several versions of the "The Gingerbread Man." The last story we’ll read is "The Gingerbread Baby;" at the end of this story, the gingerbread baby is trapped inside a gingerbread house . We’re going to do a project that goes with this story . For this project, each child is required to have an adult come to school to help them ( it can be a father, a grandfather, an uncle or an older sibling) . We will build and decorate a gingerbread house using cookies, candies and icing. The project is scheduled for Friday, December 20 at 1:30 p.m. Please make arrangements to leave younger siblings at home. To make these little houses , choose a few things from the list of ingredients and bring them to school before December 18. Also, each child will need a piece of carboard (like the lid of a shoe box ) on which they can build the house and a couple of plastic knives. Thank you ! List of Ingredients ( choose two or three things to bring to school - remember there are 15 children and we will share all the ingredients ) . The top two ingredients are the ones we need the most of. * boxes of graham crackers crackers * White icing (in cans, for cake decorating ) –the icing CANNOT be " Whipped " ( this does not dry and the candies slide off the houses). * aluminum foil Candy: M & Ms ( big bag) Skittles ( big bag) Candy Canes (small) Red Hots Chocolate chips marshmallows (small) Gum Drops Any other candy that you think will work to decorate the houses. |
